Rock the Red American Heart Red Purse Auction, December 8th, 2015
On December 8th, almost 500 American Heart Association supporters gathered at the Ramada Inn for the annual Go Red for Women Luncheon. Heart disease is the leading cause of death among women, meaning that nearly 1 in 3 women die as a result of heart disease. Larry Zimmerman, speaking about the event, said, “It’s such a prominent issue, and it’s wonderful to see so many in the community come together with the desire to make a difference and improve the odds.” The annual luncheon raises funds for the American Heart Association through the sale of tickets, and the thematic red purse auction. Women and organizations are encouraged to donate a red purse accompanied by auction items to be sold for the benefit of the Association. This year, Larry, Angel, and their son, Kegan Zimmerman, were able to attend the event.
